How to reach the workshop venue

By underground, tram and bus

Milan has a good system of subways, buses and trams (www.atm.it). If possible, avoid using your car.

Underground (strongly suggested)

The Milan Bicocca University is easily accessible via Metro line 5 (violet), Bignami direction, stop Bicocca or Ponale. (Underground map) (www.atm.it)

Tram

  • Line 31: San Glicerio stop
  • Line 7: Arcimboldi-Ateneo Nuovo stop for U6. (www.atm.it)

    Bus

    Line 87: Stop Arcimboldi-Ateneo Nuovo or Via Chiese - Via P. e A. Pirelli.
The line links Sesto Marelli to Stazione Centrale (Milan Central Station). (www.atm.it)

    By Train

U6 building (CCIW17 conference) is near the Milano Greco Station (www.trenitalia.com)

    By plane

  • From Milano Linate Airport: take bus 73 in the direction of S. Babila M1. At the terminus take subway (www.atm.it/en).
  • From Milano Malpensa Airport: take the shuttle train Malpensa Express (www.malpensaexpress.it) to Cadorna Station or shuttle bus (www.malpensashuttle.it) to Centrale Station. From Cadorna or Centrale station take subway (www.atm.it).
  • From Milan Orio al Serio Airport: take the shuttle bus (www.orioshuttle.com) to the Milan Central Station. From Centrale station take subway (www.atm.it).

    By car

From the Torino-Venezia motorway, take the "Milano-Viale Zara" exit and head towards the city centre (centro). Pass the sign indicating the Town limit (Comune di Milano) roughly where you can see the "StarTourist" Hotel on your left. Take Viale Sarca (first street parallel, on your left, to the one you are on). After about 1 km going along Viale Sarca you will reach the university campus. There are adequate parking facilities available.

    Accomodation

For accommodation, the area of Lambrate Station is fine to go to University of Milano-Bicocca (6 minutes by train).
A lot of fine hotels are located in the area of the Central Station (bus 87) and Garibaldi Station (underground line M5).
Maybe the best compromise to stay close to downtown is the area of Porta Venezia (undergound line M1).
